The British Columbia Athletic Commissioner oversees the conduct of professional boxing, kickboxing and mixed martial arts (MMA) as well as all amateur combat sports events throughout the Province of British Columbia. The Athletic Commissioner is committed to ensuring the safety and integrity of combat sports in the Province.

Important Notice on Fighter Licensing
Fighters who compete outside of Canada, or in events in Canada but not sanctioned by a recognized provincial combat sports commission, will have their license applications reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
All submitted documentation, including the fight history and medical information must be verifiable, accurate, and up to date. If the Commission is unable to verify this information or has concerns regarding any of the information submitted the application may be subject to a mandatory 90-day waiting period as a term and condition of their license or may not be issued a license.
If the Commissioner is satisfied that the information is accurate, valid, and there are no safety concerns the fighter may be issued a license. This precaution aligns with the Athletic Commissioner Act, which allows the Commissioner to act in the public interest, including protecting fighter health and safety.
A person must not knowingly submit to the BCAC a document that has been fabricated, materially altered, or generated in a manner that falsely represents the document as authentic. Prohibited conduct includes, but is not limited to:
Medical Documentation
Submitting an AI-generated or altered:
- medical examination;
- medical clearance;
- physician’s report;
- blood test;
- eye examination;
- medical suspension clearance;
- concussion assessment;
- laboratory result;
- medical history; or
- other health-related document
